"On Saturday, August 21st. from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. the Northern Mariposa County History Center will celebrate the grand opening of the Barrett Room. The room and its contents which is adjacent to the existing museum, were donated to the museum by Russelle Barrett Shively in 2016. Under the direction of Stephen Huff and general contractor, Mark Becker, the room was renovated and displays are being installed under the direction of co-chairpersons, Lynn Breshears and Karen Farrell. Members and their guests had a sneak peek of the new room in June without the new displays but on the 21st. the room will be open to the public complete with artifacts from the Barrett gift as well as items from the museum's existing collection. This is a ticketed event with proceeds going to the development of the 2 1/2 acres surrounding the museum.
On Saturday, September 18th. the Northern Mariposa County History Center will reopen to the public and implement the new post covid schedule. The museum's new days and hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The entire museum has been refreshed and will include the new Barrett Room. Check this space for additional details.
